Hunt Brothers Coffee Grinder UK Review

 March 9, 2017

By  Enda McLarnon

This is my review of the high quality Hunt Brothers Coffee Grinder. This is a coffee mill, otherwise known as a hand style or manual style coffee grinder.

This grinder is no longer available. We recommend checking out our top 10 list of manual grinders here.

Overall it is the highest rated in its class at a very high average of 4.9 out of 5 stars. That puts it right at the top of the rankings, for a stainless steel coffee mill.

As you can see from the image above, this one looks really good, and it is of very high stainless steel quality. The Hunt Brother's  brand is considered to be at the higher end of the UK market. It has also won several awards for its design, and effectiveness at producing a range of different coffee grinds.

As it uses a conical ceramic burr for the grinding, that ensures both an even grind and then on a consistent basis. That is very important to ensure high quality and freshly ground coffee. Many of these manual grinders are a lot of manual work. This one is not as it grinds with considerable ease.

What Buyers Say About the Hunt Brothers Coffee Grinder

Below we have summarised what real life buyers make of this grinder. Overall they rate this Hunt Brother's model as a 4.9 out of 5 star machine. This is based on a 5 star rating system, with 1 being the lowest rating, and 5 stars being the highest.

It is pretty easy to see from these ratings, that 9 out of 10 people gave this one the full 5 star rating. It really does not get much better than that. Over 98% rated it a 4 star product or higher. Around 2% were clearly not happy with their purchase. Generally speaking though, the majority of buyers were extremely pleased with their purchase.

What Buyers Didn't Like Abut the Hunt Brothers Grinder

If the percentage of 1 star reviews is small, I tend to ignore that, as the complaints are normally pretty small. The complaints here are very low at only 2% However, I did take a look at those.

I only found 2 buyers who said the grind was poor. They said it was simply a mixture of chunks and dust. From over 150 buyers, there were just the 2 complaints.

Hunt Brothers Coffee Grinder Main Review

Hunt Brothers Coffee Grinder and beans

Priced at around £20, this is at the higher end of the price point, for these types of stainless steel hand grinders. It is very high quality though, so in essence, you are getting what you pay for.

Like any hand grinder, it does take time and a little effort. If you are plan on grinding a lot of coffee, then I would of course recommend purchasing a burr grinder. That will do the job a great deal faster and with a lot less effort. That said, many people enjoy doing it the old-fashioned way.

This model is one of the better ones, and it is why it came out at number one on our top 5 list of stainless steel hand grinders. This is without any question a very good product.

Who Would Buy the Hunt Brothers Coffee Grinder?

There are people who like to stick as close as possible to the more traditional methods of grinding coffee. That is of course where you put your coffee beans in the top of the grinder.

Then you start to turn the handle and watch the beans being slowly ground. There are many people who enjoy doing this as and see it as part of the overall coffee making process.

So people who would buy this hand grinder would need to have some time on their hands. The process is comparatively slow, and does require a little physical effort. from beginning to end it takes about 2 minutes to be able to grind enough coffee for one cup.

As I mentioned earlier, if you plan on regularly grinding coffee on a fairly regular basis, then it is, in my opinion, worth investing a little more in a burr style grinder. That is an electric version and simply much faster and easier.

The other type of buyers for this product are those who need a grinder from time to time, but also like to have something very stylish looking in their kitchen. This one looks really well in the more modern or contemporary styled kitchen.

My Summary & Verdict on the Hunt Brothers Coffee Grinder

If you don't have to grind a lot of coffee, then the Hunt Brother's coffee mill does an excellent job. That is clearly what buyers believe, and why it it has such an excellent average buyer rating.  It also looks well, and I think will sit well in any modern designed kitchen.

This product has an RRP of around £28. Most shops and online stores however sell this at around £20. Look out for that type of price. If you can find it at that amount of money, then it is a good buy, in my opinion.
