The Severin burr grinder model is an affordable ceramic burr grinder, that costs under £45. It is a nice looking grinder though this German brand may not that be well known in the United Kingdom.
It can grind up to 100 grams of coffee at any one time.
The model number of this Severin is the KM3874. It is a stainless steel disk grinder with a detachable collection container.
Key Features of the Severin Grinder Model
There are lots of different burr grinders on the UK market. I was writing an article on the top 5 burr grinders that cost less than £50. This model came out as the number three buyer rated on that list.
The brand name is well known in Germany, and they are known for making good quality grinders. They make a number of coffee related products, and all of those get a very good name.
It also has a cup selector which makes this one easy to use. At under £50 this one is affordable, and yet it is still a good quality burr grinder.
It measures 18 x 14.2 x 24.4 cm, so will not take up a lot of counters space, or room in your cupboard, if you prefer to store kitchen appliances away when not in use.
It is also light in weight as it is only 1.2 Kg.
Amount of Beans it Can Grind
This one has a 100 gram bean capacity. That is large enough to make enough grains for about up to 6 cups of coffee. That is smaller than most on this list, but at the end of the day, you only need to grind enough for immediate needs.
Grind Selector
The grind can be adjusted using a wheel selector that goes from 1 through to 9. the number one position is the finest grind, ideal for espresso coffee styles and at 9 you have a coarse grind, ideal for filter machines or French Press.
What Buyers Say About the Severin Burr Grinder
The brand may not be well known in the UK, but it is in Europe. We checked what buyers have said, and how they rate their purchase.
To do that our team read many reviews, and I have then summarised those below, to save you the trouble.
Overall this Severin grinder achieved a 68% customer satisfaction and value for money rating.
Like many coffee grinders this one is pretty loud, so not one you want to be using early in the morning, especially if you are trying to be quiet.
It uses ceramic burrs to do the grinding, and they are good quality burrs. A burr grinder will also be quieter than a blade grinder, and this one is no exception.
What Buyers Liked and Didn't Like
PROS
CONS
This is in my opinion a high quality good grinder for home use. So unless you want one that grinds on an industrial scale, then this one makes good choice.
The actual dispenser that catches the coffee is that typical plastic container, and the coffee can stick to that. That can get a little bit messy.
My Thoughts on the Severin Burr Coffee Grinder
Many of the high quality burr grinders cost anything between £70-200. There are many people who simply can not justify that type of spend, even though they know, that fresh coffee simply tastes a great deal better.
This Severin model neatly fills that price gap. At under £45 it is still expensive enough, but at least it gives you a more affordable option, than having to spend a larger amount of money.
It has a black plastic housing, with a nice silver fascia, and that does give it an attractive look.

Overall though, this Severing grinder gets very high ratings, is certainly good value for money, is easy to use and to keep clean.
