BlueSnail Coffee Tamper - UK Review
This is my review of the BlueSnail Coffee Tamper. This is made from stainless steel and is a 51 mm tamping size. A tamper of this quality is ideal for tamping fresh ground espresso before brewing, for all your favourite coffee drinks.
As you can see from the image below, this one looks really good, and it is of very high quality.
This tamper costs around £11, and is one of the better ones available on the UK market. On Amazon UK, this is actually the best selling tamper. Buyers also rate this very highly with an average score of 4.7 out of 5 stars. That says a lot about the quality of this tamper.
What Buyers Say About the Bluesnail Tamper
Below we have summarised what real life buyers make of this tamper. Overall they rate this Bluesnail model as a 4.7 out of 5 star tamper. This is based on a 5 star rating system, with 1 being the lowest rating, and 5 stars being the highest.
I have shown the buyer ratings by a percentage split, which I think you may find useful, to see the ratings at a glance. There are well over 160 buyer reviews to go on.
It is pretty easy to see from these ratings, that over 8 out of 10 buyers gave this one the full 5 star rating. 93% rated it a 4 star product or higher. Around 2% were clearly not happy with their purchase. Generally speaking though, the majority of buyers were pleased with their tamper purchase.
What Buyers Didn't Like About the BlueSnail Coffee Tamper
If the percentage of 1 star reviews is low, I tend to not worry too much. That is simply because the number of complaints are normally pretty small. As you can see at only 2%, the poor ratings are really low. I did however take a quick look just to be sure there is nothing major to worry about.
The main complaint was about the way their product arrived. It arrived in a tatty condition. Now annoying as this is, these types of review don't really help with reference to how good the tamper is. If this ever happens to you, then return the product, and get a replacement. I would never accept shoddy goods.

Bluesnail Tamper Main Review
There are plenty of these tampers available on the UK market. In terms of differentiating them, a good way of doing that is to look at the actual buyer rating. Buyers rate this one with a very high score of 4.7 out of 5 stars. That is a very good rating and important to know.
There are not that many low reviews and that is always a very good sign. The complaints that did exist, were more about poor delivery, rather than about the quality of the actual product itself.
Portafilter - As many of you will know, the portafilter is the part of your coffee machine, where you place the ground coffee. Once there that is where you tamper it. You need to make sure that the diameter of the tamper, fits the portafilter. This one is a 51 mm size.
Style - This tamper is a flat style, so not concave. That does make it easier to stand up for storage reasons.
Weight - This is a heavy tamper and that makes the actual process of tamping easier. It also makes it generally easier to use.
In terms of appearance, this one actually looks great and will look fantastic in any kitchen. It has a really nice finish, and it looks exactly the way you would expect a tamper to look.
Who Would Buy this Coffee Tamper?
Most coffee makers will come with some form of tamper. Sadly these are usually plastic and actually not that good at doing the job. Having a proper barista style tamper really does make a difference to the quality of your espresso.
Clearly this tamper is for those who want to get the best coffee results.
My Summary & Verdict on the Bluesnail Tamper
