This is our review of the highly buyer rated Duronic coffee grinder. This particular model is pretty new to the UK market. It is however selling really well, and more importantly, buyers really do seem to love this one.
It only comes in the single black colour shown below. The key difference in this blade grinder, compared to the huge majority on the UK marketplace, is the size of the motor.
Most blade coffee grinders use a 150 watt powered motor. This one however uses a more powerful 250 watt motor. I explain later why this makes such a huge difference.
Key Features of the Duronic CG250 Model
There are hundreds of different blade coffee grinders on the market. When I am reviewing a product like this, I try and find why I would buy this one, as compared to the others.
At the end of the day, you will want to buy a good product that will grind coffee beans. This one can also easily grind nuts, seeds and spices, and that makes it a very useful kitchen gadget as well.
Below we have identified what we believe to be the most important features, and the ones that will help you decide, if this is the one for you. We have listed these below with an explanation of why they may be important to you.
Amount of Beans it Can Grind
This refers to the amount of beans that you can put into the hopper. The average cup of coffee uses around 10 grams of coffee. This grinder can grind up to 75 grams, so that should be enough for up to 6-8 cups of coffee at any one time.
I would always recommend that you only grind enough beans to make whatever amount of coffee you are going to drink. With this one, you can grind some more, and the lid will help keep it fresh.
Personally I would want to use any grinds in the one day, and then grind fresh beans the next day.
Motor Size
I mentioned this earlier, and now I want to come back to it, as it is quite important. When you are using one of these blade style grinders, then the small motor inside can really very quickly heat up.
With most grinders on the market, it is recommended that you do not continuously grind for any longer than 60 seconds. That is because you can easily burn out the motor. The heat generated can also burn the beans.
A typical motor size is 150 watts, so a motor with that power, just can not be over worked. This Duronic model has a 250 watt motor. Grinding beans, seeds or spices with this grinder, is both faster and more efficient.
An added benefit, is that the motor does not come under so much pressure, and as such will last longer.
Transparent Lid
Do not overlook this as a feature. It is important to be able to see into the grinder, so as you can judge when you have the right thickness of grind. For filter style coffees you will want a coarser grind, whereas for espresso you will want it very fine.
There is no setting on this Duronic CG250 grinder where you can set the fineness of the grind. Because of that you need to be able to see in, and stop grinding when it has reached the desired thickness.
This lid is transparent and also comes with a rubber grip so as you can hold it easily without slipping.
Other Features
There are a few other features worth mentioning.
Stainless Steel Bowl
The bowl is made from stainless steel and can be quickly and easily removed. That means you can pop the bowl out, and have your coffee, without having to move the grinder about.
That also makes cleaning the grinder a great deal easier.
Cord Storage in the Base
When not in use, the cord can be stored in the base and out of the way. That stops it from cluttering up your worktop. There are also rubber feet on the bottom to prevent the grinder from sliding around on the worktop.
Good Cutting Blades
The blades are made of stainless steel, but the body of the grinder is made from a hard durable plastic.
Finally this grinder comes with a 2-year manufacturer's warranty.

What Buyers Say About the Duronic Blade Grinder
This one is a basic grinder, but I believe it has enough useful features. I now want to look at how buyers rated their purchase and what they had to say about it.
To do that our team read many reviews, and I have then summarised those below, to save you the trouble. Overall this Duronic grinder achieved a 91% customer satisfaction and value for money rating.
That is an excellent rating by any standards. The good news is that the team struggles to find any bad reviews on this grinder. That is really unusual, but clearly a very good sign of its quality.
My Thoughts on the Duronic CG250 Blade Grinder
It becomes really clear when reading the reviews, that this model is much better, than your average blade grinder. Buyers were very impressed by how efficiently, this grinder goes about its work.
It is smart looking, very well designed and made and will look well in your kitchen.
Almost every buyer said that this was very easy to clean, unlike other grinders they had used before. It is also really easy to use and there are no fiddly settings to worry about.
It is good that the cord tucks away when not in use. We also like the fact that you can use this to grind other spices. That certainly increases the amount of use. For me though, any grinder is all about what it can do with coffee beans.
